1 - Adaptogenic plants

Adaptogenic plants are currently a new class of metabolic regulators that increase the body's ability to adapt to environmental factors and avoid their negative effects on the body.

The adaptogenic action of plants can currently be characterized as :

  • a non-specific response = induced response to all stressors (biological, chemical, physical) ;
  • a general effect = non specific to an organ, a physiological function or a concrete pathology;
  • a normalizing action = increase in the homeostatic capacities of the organism (e.g.: capacity of adaptation and resistance of the organism in the face of tension);
  • polyvalent actions = involvement of distinct mechanisms (or several immediate biological effects).

Below is a list of herbs that have positive effects on the adrenal glands. You can contact me by email or in the Facebook group for more advice on effects and doses.

  • Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng): Adaptogenic plant that strengthens and improves resistance to stress. Caution : its prolonged use can stimulate the body excessively and misuse can aggravate anxiety.
  • Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea): Adaptogenic plant that nourishes the adrenal glands and restores their balance. It is one of the best plants to help restore neurotransmitter balance.
  • Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): An adaptogenic herb that strengthens the adrenal glands in the face of stress.
  • Bacopa (Bacopa monniera): Mild adaptogenic herb that helps combat anxiety and reduce the effects of stress. Helps to improve memory and learning abilities.
  • Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus): A toning adaptogen that helps the body resist the effects of stress and strengthens the immune system.
  • Eleutherococcus (Eleutherococcus senticosus): Adaptogenic plant that stimulates the central and adrenal nervous system, with a powerful anti-inflammatory effect.
  • Valerian (Valeriana offinalis): A plant that has calming and anxiolytic effects. In high doses, it has a sedative effect.
  • Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata): Rich in alkaloids and flavonoids, this plant has anxiolytic, sedative and relaxing properties.
  • Mucuna (Mucuna pruriens): Pea peddler with an action on the production of dopamine.
